Stephen Cryne, President and CEO @ Canadian Employee Relocation Council

Mission:

CERC engaged Fenton at a pivotal moment for the global mobility profession. Industry research showed that while many mobility teams aspire to become more strategic, half of programs remain primarily transactional today. The objective was to help relocation leaders think differently about how they influence workforce decisions, improve employee and family outcomes, and demonstrate greater business value.

Engagement:

Fenton delivered a customized keynote, Leading Transformation with the Curiosity Compass™, designed specifically for global mobility leaders. Drawing on industry research, conversations with mobility practitioners, his own international relocation experience, and real-world innovation examples, the session introduced a practical framework for challenging assumptions, borrowing ideas from outside the industry, redesigning fragmented systems, and considering the wider stakeholder impact of mobility decisions. The keynote translated innovation from an abstract concept into a repeatable discipline that leaders could apply within their own organizations.

Outcomes:

Participants were equipped with a practical mental model for generating stronger ideas, questioning established ways of working, and approaching mobility challenges more strategically. The session reinforced the opportunity for mobility leaders to move upstream in organizational decision-making, from executing relocation decisions to helping shape the talent, workforce, and business choices behind them. It also gave attendees concrete ways to experiment with new approaches without requiring large budgets, dedicated innovation teams, or major transformation programs.
